Mining is a dangerous busin...It's sad for sure. Mining is a dangerous business, even here in Canada. Another industry, fishing, for comparison: in eastern Canada, over the last 3 centuries, roughly 200,000 (two hundred thousand) fisherman have drowned (on the job). Even today, with much less fishing, I can think of 10 fishing drownings over the last few months, in a total fishing workforce of ~3000-4000.
