Medvedko Redux As Parliament Hammers Out Election Legislation
Thoroughly disappointed with the Piskun experiment, President Yushchenko has reinstated Oleksander Medvedko as Prosecutor General. Despite frictions, the Verkhovna Rada on Friday worked until midnight to pass the required legislation.

Its sometimes feels mundane when the system works, but it truly is awesome when one has witnessed(or witnessed other people witnessing to) the depths of what human depravity can render...

When the system serves your needs — more or less — you start taking it for granted.
But here in Ukraine it’s the system itself that has taken us for granted to serve its needs.
You are right, but its not all one or the other...
Sometimes the system "works" even though it works primarily to serve the relatively few...

Great post! Undoubtedly, your current administration lacks the education and ethics to run the world’s superpower. America has revietnamized itself.
What a sad sight it is: a parochial top brass that couches its wordlview in Biblical terms as more coffins hit home.
Like I say, I think one can appreciate the aspects of a system that do work, despite having serious misgivings about a good deal of it.
As an activist, I have often tried to go out of my way to affirm as much of what my opponents affirm. This mitigates the tension and helps to make compromises more possible.
If they believe I think they are "pretty darned" depraved then they will presume that giving me power will necessarily result in them losing a lot more power. But if we do have some common ground to build off of, then the implics of power-sharing are less extreme.

Its not simply a matter of triangulation, but recognizing points of contacts and picking one's battles...
