Santa Yanukovych, Snow White Tymoshenko Raid Regions

Yanukovych brings 30,000 flu masks to Vinnytsya, with a promise of supplying the entire Ukraine with 20,000,000 more. (From Donbas? Wrong. From China!)

For him, touching base with swing voters in central and western Ukraine means greater chances of winning.

Tymoshenko brings equipment to a Lviv hospital.
For her, losing western Ukraine means losing.

Kid [obviously recalling a nightmare]: ...a dog will come to me!
PM Tymoshenko:
Really?

That’s right! Our healthcare is a nightmare.

Meanwhile, people are peddling handmade flu masks on the streets of Kyiv.

Some even recall the unfortunate words Tymoshenko spoke during her October 24 rally.

PM Yulia Tymoshenko: And I know that when every one of you goes home, you will carry a piece of this good, wonderful infection of fighting for freedom to every village, town and city. Can you do that?

So far, we’ve had more freedom of infection than infection of freedom.

As of Friday afternoon local time November 6, we have seven confirmed H1N1 cases in Kyiv, including one fatality. Six infected people are fighting for their lives, including a 2-month-old baby and a 23-year-old pregnant woman.

You mentioned the decrease of population, don't you have immigrants as balance? A lot of Brazilians, Russians, some Ukranians move to Hungary. For example I saw a football player from Brazil who became Hungarian citizen and he speaks Hungarian very well and he has played in the national team also and he settled here because he was just playing for Hungarian clubs.

The last qote sounds weird.

I do not understand why Yanuk is not wearing a mask.

More importantly, I do not understand why people are simply handing out masks by HAND.

After all, one of the ways of spreading the flu virus is - by hand.

What good does it do if the masks you're handing out are unsanitary in the first place?

Furthermore, unless the masks are specially made, they are too porous - and viruses can get through the material.

So now, they all want to appear like doctors.

A guest on the Savik Shuster show said it best:

"when doctors talk about politics, that's normal, it's freedom of speech;

when politicians talk about medicine - that's pathology"

And these politicians, this "political elite" in Ukraine is proving it.

These politicians are not fighting the flu, they are fighting each other, and spreading ignorance and mass hysteria at the same time.

Here's a bit of information about H1N1 flu:

http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/qa.htm

What is 2009 H1N1 (swine flu)?
2009 H1N1 (sometimes called “swine flu”) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway.

Why is 2009 H1N1 virus sometimes called “swine flu”?
This virus was originally referred to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs (swine) in North America. But further study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and bird (avian) genes and human genes. Scientists call this a "quadruple reassortant" virus.

2009 H1N1 Flu in Humans

Are there human infections with 2009 H1N1 virus in the U.S.?
Yes. Human infections with 2009 H1N1 are ongoing in the United States. Most people who have become ill with this new virus have recovered without requiring medical treatment.
CDC routinely works with states to collect, compile and analyze information about influenza, and has done the same for the new H1N1 virus since the beginning of the outbreak. This information is presented in a weekly report, called FluView.

Is 2009 H1N1 virus contagious?
The 2009 H1N1 virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human.

How does 2009 H1N1 virus spread?
Spread of 2009 H1N1 virus is thought to occur in the same way that seasonal flu spreads. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something – such as a surface or object – with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

Can I get 2009 H1N1 more than once? Nov 5
Getting infected with any influenza virus, including 2009 H1N1, should cause your body to develop immune resistance to that virus so it's not likely that a person would be infected with the identical influenza virus more than once. (However, people with weakened immune systems might not develop full immunity after infection and might be more likely to get infected with the same influenza virus more than once.) However, it's also possible that a person could have a positive test result for flu infection more than once in an influenza season. This can occur for two reasons:

A person may be infected with different influenza viruses (for example, the first time with 2009 H1N1 and the second time with a regular seasonal flu virus. Most rapid tests cannot distinguish which influenza virus is responsible for the illness. And,
Influenza tests can occasionally give false positive and false negative results so it's possible that one of the test results were incorrect. This is more likely to happen when the diagnosis is made with the rapid flu tests. More information about flu diagnosis is available at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/diagnosis/.

As usual, the "political elite" in Ukraine have it bass ackwards - ass backwards.

The way the virus spreads is by touching contaminated surfaces, or by a sick person spreading the virus by coughing or sneezing.

So - wash hands often.

And -

The whole idea is for sick people to stay away from others, and to cover their mouths and nose when they cough or sneeze.

That can be done with tissues.

Thank you for the youtube videos. The people of Ukraine must avoid the mistakes of Iran. Nokia helped the Iranian government track and arrest protesters. Nokia sold technology that allowed the Iranian government to listen in and track down mobile phone transmissions.

Please watch the Nokia boycott videos:

Ropi,

An estimated few million Ukrainian labor migrants work and live in the EU and Russia.

Some 30-40 million foreign nationals cross Ukraine’s border every year, and that includes millions of EU-bound labor migrants from Asia and Africa

Caught by police/border patrols or otherwise unable to reach their promised land, many of them stay in Ukraine.

Elmer,

Masks bought on the street definitely need to be sanitized before use.

They may or may not meet quality standards, but in the absence of any other available masks, they offer the only alternative.

As far as I can see, neither the WHO nor the CDC uses the term California flu, so eagerly embraced by our cover-my-ass officials.

Anonymous,

Thank you for alerting me and my readers to this problem!

Companies that supply oppressive regimes with software or hardware can and should be boycotted.

It’s the essence of social responsibility.

Taras, as far as the political parties falling all over themselves to pass out masks, it brings to mind 3 concepts:

- burning down the barn in order to kill the rats

- shooting flies with a cannon

- bringing a knife to a gun fight.

The Kyiv Post had an eminently reasonable article about the flu by a doctor from Kharkiv who knows what he's talking about, as opposed to the politicians (at the very least, the difference between bacteria and viruses).

So the only thing left in Ukraine is for Tymo and Yanuk to compete to see who can hand out the most masks, and who can propose spending the most money via bills in the Parliament to "fight the flu."

If the last 18 years, or even the last 4 years, are any indication, the "fight the flu" money is not going to fight the flu at all - it will wind up in the "political elite's" pockets - again.

If there was a bubonic plague in Ukraine, the "political elite" approach would be to hand out brooms to the population - for the appearance of doing something, because it's the only thing left.

If there was a shortage of meat, they'd import meat, let it sit in frozen storage lockers, and let it spoil. Oh, wait, they've already done that.

Typical bass ackwards, "fool the people" mentality.

What the hell have they been doing for the past 18 years? Or even the past 4 years, since the Orange Revolution?

It's sickening.
