Former Assistant U.S. Attorney: Tymoshenko Was 'Unindicted Co-Conspirator'

We jail your former PM L = prosecution. You jail your former PM T = persecution.

So being an “unindicted co-conspirator” kind of grants immunity from U.S. prosecution, right?

If you’re one of those lucky “unindicted co-conspirators,” you don’t get 9 years in U.S. jail like your not-so-lucky partner does. You don't even get indicted. Instead, you get full White House and State Department democracy support.
Let’s call it “But She's Our Unindicted Co-Conspirator” program. Gaddafi bad, Karimov good.

Well, some U.S. judges beg to differ. To them, blood is definitely thicker than gas.

As the West worships Tymoshenko, her parliamentary bloc sides with the ruling Party of Regions again. This time they pass an election bill that kills two other opposition blocs' chances. Business as usual. The West loves that!

Rozkazhyyyyyy...chomuuuuu....teeeeell me whyyyyyy...

"Unindicted co-conspirator" is an oxymoron - a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms, i.e. a nonsense.

Unindicted means 'not formally charged or accused of any crime'..

In other words Tymoshenko was not charged or accused of anything..not even of being a conspirator....

Legally speaking, she is totally innocent of any crime in the USA...

Innocent because she wasn't indicted? That's exactly my point!

The question is, why? Why wasn't she indicted? Gaddafi bad, Karimov good. Why?

Unindicted co-cospirator has become something of a precious find in my vocabulary of U.S. legal terms:)

If a majority of Ukrainians were convinced a Tymoshenko government is just what Ukraine needs - and they're not - one term of a Tymoshenko government would soon disabuse them of that notion. How can anyone seriously look to their leader for establishment and enforcement of the rule of law when they make it clear by their actions they will decide what laws it will suit them to obey, and that any court that will not bow to their personal will is illegitimate?

Yanukovych might not be the ideal leader, but he's better than Tymoshenko would be and better than Yuschenko was. The leader with the magical combination of charisma and hardheaded practicality who will set Ukraine on the right road has yet to emerge - but it isn't Tymoshenko.

Tymoshenko screwed herself out of a presidency.

A little bit more honesty, integrity and leadership, and she'd be Ukraine's "lesser evil" president today. Instead, she BSed her voters, pampered her cronies and signed a disastrous win-lose deal with Russia.

For Yanukovych to be “better” than Tymoshenko, he should unite aspiring middle-class Ukrainians against the corrupt elites without resurrecting unreformed types like Tymoshenko.

Basically, it’s a mission of creative (self-)destruction.
