93.60% Counted: Yanukovych, 35.39%; Tymoshenko, 24.95%

With less than 7% of the vote left to count, the 10% gap refuses to go away.

Maybe she was celebrating a bit too early?

The map at Ukrainian Pravda shows the concentration of votes geographically for each individual candidate.

Very, very interesting.

Same old people, voting for the same old people.

In any other sane country, Yanukovych would have been hounded out long ago, for his role, and that of his Kuchma-Party of Regions, in the falsification of the 2004 presidential elections.

Not so in bass ackwards Ukraine.

In any other democratic country, Tymo, who is supposedly a fierce "tiger" warrior against corruption, would have owned up to her own party's corruption, and cleaned it all up, "theirs" and her own party's - starting at the very least the last time she became prime minister.

As it is, Ukraine stands to regress to the Party or Thugs, the party that has the most oligarchs, the party where people die in coal mines while fat bastards like Zviahylsky and Yanuk and the rest rake in money.

They stand to regress to Putler-like "rule of law," which is a convenient phrase in the post-sovok republics for the iron fist.

A vote for Yanukovych is a vote for "beat me over the head better, hurt me better, because my oligarchs need more money."

As between Tymo and Yanuk, a person has to be brain-dead to vote for Yanuk.

Or, in Ukraine's case, maybe it's better off to be dead rather than to vote.

So, out of curiosity, who are you cheering for / did you vote for (in case it is not impolite to ask this question), Taras?

Elmer,

In the West, Yanukovych and Tymoshenko would have no chance. They’d both be in jail. They’d have even a harder time in China.

In Ukraine, we have to choose the “lesser of two evils.”

Lingüista,

It’s OK. I voted against all:)

I don’t see a single candidate I can cheerleader for.
