Kyivites Make Fun of ‘The Mayor of all Martians’

Below is a video from an anti-Chernovetsky rally held outside the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.

In a bid to generate publicity, some protesters masqueraded as aliens, impersonating Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky, whose oft-bizarre behavior has long earned him the nickname ‘Kosmos’ (or ‘Lyonya Kosmos’). They also spoofed his reminder slogan ‘The Mayor of all Kyivites’ in a way that they believe best fits his planetary profile.

Alien-clad protesters: Lyonya the Martian! Lyonya the Martian! This here is Lyonya the Martian!

Elderly man: What’s the theme? Extraterrestrials. It’s unmatchable. You see, this atmosphere…uh…long story short, it’s Ukraine. What you see is Ukraine live.

The old man is right. I wake up every day in boring Warsaw wishing it could be this exciting!

That's hilarious. The funniest thing I've seen in awhile concerning Ukraine.

Don't miss the day we send him to Mars (or even further!:)

Are you sure that they will want him!

See if you can spot the Martian along Route 66.

It winds from Chicago to L.A.
More than 2,000 miles all the way
Get your kicks on Route 66.

Or maybe you can send him to the moon.

"Fly Me to the Moon"

Scene from "Barbarella", with Julie London doing the song, and a young Jane Fonda prancing about stupidly.

Or if you prefer an upbeat jazz version, here's Diana Krall doing the same song:

Good point, Orest! Our only hope is that his planet of destination is uninhabited. Otherwise, they’ll ship him back right away:)

Elmer, 2,000 miles and Route 66 don’t make me feel comfortable. Let’s make it 2,000 light years and Route 666!:)))

I like the original version of "Fly Me to the Moon" more. It captures the sci-fi spirit of the 60s. You made me want to watch Barbarella again:)

Lovely music! Keep expanding my horizons, Elmer!
