Bohoslovska Pits God Against Tymoshenko




Ukraine is being protected by God and…um…all of our history suggests this, despite the fact that we don’t always behave in God’s ways, all of us. But even today God is giving us a sign. And if the President of Ukraine is a believer, a true and devout believer, then he can’t just sleep quietly through this night. He must understand that if the people do not understand that a destructive force like Tymoshenko must not be allowed to gain power, then God steps in. This event that took place during the voting today suggests that nature and God do not want us to let this mistake happen.

Inna Bohoslovska is a lawyer and a member of the Party of Regions.

So now God - and nature - steals voting cards from Yatsenyuk.

Why doesn't she just go on and say that God created a miracle in the Rada yesterday?

Isn't taking the name of the Lord in vain a sin?

And so which is it - God or nature?

So now God, who created everything, is somehow co-equal with the nature god?

Warning: If you listed to this dumb broad, be sure to wear your high boots, because you will be wading in dung up to your knees after she's done talking.

I wonder if she learned about God and nature in law school. Apparently the same law school taught her that it's OK to snatch and steal voting cards.

Elmer, the only natural phenomena I can detect there is Meteorite Man. Too bad the Oranges lack Yanukovych’s expertise in natural disaster prevention.

David, she’s a very successful lawyer. But as for the theology behind her rhetoric, I think you’re preaching to a choir:)

Pawlina, her political career has had ups and downs. But once Tymo becomes PM or President, it’s all downhill from here.

Got to love it when politicians claim God as being on their side in a struggle. It is the kind of arrogance that is completely antithetical to good leadership and true religious devotion, and is more a root cause of world problems than any sort of solution.

Lincoln's second inaugural address very poignantly addressed the idea of opposing forces praying for victory to the same God, during the Civil War, the war between the states, excerpt pasted in below.

Lincoln did not invoke nature in his address.

I sure hope Tymo becomes PM. And I pray to God that she does. I don't pray to nature. I pray to God.

This is the last part of Lincoln's second inaugural address, invoking the help of God.

This is the "with malice towards none" speech.

I pray to God that Yulia becomes PM, and that God grants some wisdom to the PR folks.

Thank you for this beautiful Lincoln quote, Elmer.

Lincoln certainly invokes divine powers in a manner unthinkable to Bohoslovska. Lincoln’s speech exhibits utilitarian motives. In contrast, Bohoslovska’s theology smacks of self-interest.

Ukrainian politicians who revel in reductio ad Regionum also have the habit of worshiping the Golden Calf, to which they refer as God.

The practice of using God as an accomplice for personal gain runs counter to the notion of spirituality. This evil practice ruins lives and sows hatred among nations.

So every time I see God being employed in political dirty work and double standards, I shower that business with scorn and sarcasm. But I've always had respect for spirituality, selflessness, and sacrifice.

I sometimes wonder how much different the US wd have been if Lincoln had remained president and been able to do more to help reconcile the North and the South. The current cultural wars stem from the political-economic inequities that arose after the civil war. There was no "southern accent" prior to the Civil War. Regional variations in USAmerican English were considered equal....

Many great leaders were cut short throughout history, leaving their people only halfway there.

Countries like ours, plus Italy, Belgium, and Canada, have their fault lines, with varying degrees of complexity.

It’s just that Ukraine’s fault lines are exacerbated by the geopolitical magnetic field of her intrusive neighbor.

The thing is that fault lines need not be so permanent or deep as the regional ones that emerged in the US after the civil war... This has reverberated into other serious conflicts that have tended to create far more heat than light.

Trust your leaders to play political jujitsu on the eastern front and shame Russia into making political cultural changes by how you tend your own garden.
