Russia Strikes Ukraine With Surgical Gas Supplies

Russia on Tuesday resumed gas supplies to Europe.

Not exactly.

Russia on Tuesday sent technologically problematic quantities of gas on a route that made their transit to Europe problematic.

  • Disrupt the pipeline’s operation
  • Isolate eastern regions
  • Drain Ukraine’s gas reserves
  • Prove the pipeline “doesn’t work”
  • Make the pipeline “the problem” in the eyes of the EU
  • Put pressure on Ukraine to sell the pipeline Belarus-style

It’s that simple.

“From Russia with gas,” as the saying goes.

P.S. DEPA, the Greek energy company, plans to sue Gazprom. Meanwhile, Moscow blames Washington for pulling the strings in the gas conflict.

Thank you for the link!

I voted for Ukraine and added my comment, too!

I love how the U.S. offers a completely toothless statement -- Russia shutting off gas supplies is "unacceptable" -- yet the U.S. is blamed.

It reminds me of "CIA intervention" in the orange revolution -- giving credit where it is not due.

If the U.S. is to blame for the Ukraine-Russia gas war IV, then we should see some tangible results, right?

Tangible results? Well, I think Ukraine should invade Russia and plunder its gas and oil reserves.

Joking aside, the Orange Revolution dealt a severe blow to Putin’s KGB ego, didn’t it?

Here’s how Putin addressed the issue of EU gas monitors in Ukraine: “Let them set up tents there, like they once did at Maidan, and let them sit there day and night, control everything. That’s the practice that could be used for the benefit of the cause.”
