You’ve got to draw the line somewhere. After all, it’s Border Troops’ Day!
Just make sure you don’t cross that line.
Beware of the war games in the area.

What good is democracy without 360 degree feedback?
It takes balls to play snowballs with the state, considering how it can always play nightsticks with you.
Maybe that little opposition rally did get its point across after all?
While some not-so-opposition MPs sucked it up, Tymoshenko strongly opposes such non-violent snowball protests. In a country where MPs, officials and cops beat, mutilate and kill people on a regular basis, isn't it a bit too much to ask?
Obviously, not for the Tymoshenko part of the establishment. Wait, wasn't it Tymoshenko's top brass and then-Interior Minister Lutsenko that defended — and even wanted to award — MP Lozynsky? Until it became clear that, contrary to earlier reports, this guy — one of their guys — had hunted and killed an innocent villager?
Maybe they all like democracy? But not if democracy doesn't like them back?

Did FEMEN outsource their cause to these guys?
Now how about we trade smalltime sex tourists for some equally fun-loving high-net-worth cons? I mean, for real, not like this.
More like this. More like Uncle Sam in former PM Lazarenko's case: We put him in our jail, we let him keep his money. Ukraine's money, that is.
So maybe we should put a PM exchange program of sorts in place? To help address our seniors’ healthcare needs, for example. (Unless they can afford German doctors, of course.) Maybe that program would stop our €-impaired seniors from feeling like bombing our government out of its luxury misery.
Elderly woman: They’re all poor. You look at them and you say, could someone take this place where they all are and drop some f**king bomb on them and blow them up to f**king kingdom come?
2:14-2:23
Yes, they can. The opposition clearly thinks so.
It's all talk and no action for Tymoshenko apparatchiks. Any surprise there? Just like the Yanukovych crowd, they all want to talk their way back into Ukraine’s parliament. Does anyone of them feel like talking about how they screwed up? Not really. Just vote for them again, OK?
Will that work for Dnipropetrovsk subway construction workers who have gone without pay for six months?
For most voters, it’s vacation season. Anyone willing to sit through 3:37:17 hours of “middle class this and that” opposition talk? Not me.
If there’s one grassroots Ukrainian who can remotely relate to Tymoshenko’s “overboard” experience, it’s this lady. Watch her fall off a jam-packed marshrutka in Dnipropertrovsk, Tymoshenko’s hometown.
And boy did she know how to dust herself off!
Chase her. Make her endorse Tymoshenko.

FEMEN went on top of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Смерть ублюдкам! from FEMEN Video on Vimeo.Death to the sadists! Oksana, you have to pull through! Castrate the bastards! Murderers to jail!
One of the three "killer kids" in the Mykolayiv rape-and-burn case happens to be the son of a former prosecutor. (Not according to the local prosecutor’s office, of course.) Another one is the son of the city’s former top official. Well, at least no denials here. Both had been initially released but taken back into custody later on as public pressure built up. In this video, the third suspect apparently takes the fall for his buddies.
In Ukraine, you can beat, rape, strangle, mangle, hunt, kill and even burn people and get away with it. If you have cash or connections, of course. If you don’t, you better get together to defend yourself like these ordinary people do.
Rich "killer kids," or mazhory as we call them in Ukraine, have created a cultural phenomenon far more prevalent than student rampages in the US. Maybe it's because here in Ukraine violent crime of this nature goes unpunished far more often than in the US?
By virtue of the almighty dollar, not probable cause or Miranda, the perpetrators either receive ridiculous sentences or avoid any jail time whatsoever. The list goes on and on.
Some US and EU tourists love Ukrainian oligarchs. But...not the way of life that oligarchy enforces on its aborigines, as opposed to its aficionados. If you know any such aficionados personally, show them this girl.
Now imagine she's your daughter.
Actions speak louder than words. As of today, Ukrainians remain largely lethargic, with just a few small protests here and there. Still, even in the most lethargic part of Ukraine, people already mince no words.
Man: It might be a bit rude, but let him drop dead!
Woman: Let him live like I do. No jobs. My son just came back from the army and there are no jobs.
She’s talking about the guy who’s got a job — the job. The guy who doesn’t show up for work until 11:00 a.m. and calls it a day at 4:15 p.m.

Where's the FSB when you need them?
FEMEN: I'm stealing [votes] for Putin! I'm stealing [votes] for Putin! Putin is a thief! Putin is a thief!
If Tymoshenko were free, is that where she would be?

No, they’re not pro-Tymoshenko. They’re against all.
All except the real grassroots protests. That would be the anti-tax code, Chernobyl and Afghan vets crowd.
Looks like the college kids out there were having fun with all the topless ladies around. "Go baby go," they shouted as FEMEN's Inna Shevchenko mounted the Princess Olha Monument. Yeah, what can be a more boring job than waiving those “Front for Change” flags? Unless the change comes with FEMEN!
Well, some people NEVER change.

Just to be clear: It's anti-Yanukovych protests, not pro-Tymoshenko ones.
Chernobyl vet: Screw them, screw them…they’re sitting up there and torturing these people, these Chernobyl folks. The Chernobyl folks were all there, no...nobody ran away from there, and those bastards up there are hiding their asses. [mumbled fragment] They’ve shipped their kids abroad. How long can they mistreat us like that? Yanukovych, come the fuck out, bitch!
Yanukovych: …and I’m being informed by law enforcement that…weapons are being procured inside the country…and an effort is under way to attack authorities. [ …] Already, people have lost everything: both fear and shame. So who’s organizing this? [ …] Not those who are struggling the most. Those who are struggling the most, they remain silent, patient and waiting.
Tymoshenko: Hold on!
Last October, they messed with Putin. Now they're messing with his partners.
“Switch on your mind!” “Tymoshenko and Yanukovych, same shit!”
That's all it takes for Tymoshenko fans to side with the police. The same police that used force to disperse their rally.
As Tymoshenko fans in the EU are going into police mode, Yanukovych has said that the final say rests with the Court of Appeals. Which probably means she'll let her go. Who doesn't need a safe retirement plan?
The EU will be fine with that. Who doesn't need low transit rates and stability?
But there's one problem. The Ukrainian people might feel a little different about this whole gas-stability thing.

I play, you pay.
If you think Ukraine’s richer Turkey, think again. We’re richer than Germany!
Olympic (Kyiv, 68,000 seats): €435M
Olympia (Berlin, 74,000 seats): €242M
Allianz Arena (Munich, 70,000 seats): €340M
That last one they built from scratch.
If you feel like scratching your head a little bit, wait until you see this.

Breathtaking, huh? That's Yanukovych’s Mezhyhirya principality.

Hey, EU, you want this *decriminalized* too? Done! Just make sure you hire Tymoshenko to negotiate your gas bills with Russia, OK?
You can then grant immunity to Yanukovych and hire him to run the ECB.
What do you say, Shakira?

Their war isn't over.
The government will mostly likely back down. No government can afford protesters with combat experience.
Not even the world's 134th transparent government (out of 178).
The government that puts Ukrainians out of their misery.
